Jonasz Markus Złotnik

Jonasz Markus Złotnik (1858-1922) – son of a trader from Wyszogród and owner of an oil mill, Abram Icek Złotnik and Necha nee Walfisz, a Rabbi of Płock in 1908-1922, a social activist. He passed the exam to become a rabbi on January 18, 1890. Initially, he was a rabbi in Szreńsk (from 1891), then in Zakroczym (from 1895). He was one of the founders of the Mizrachi party and a co-founder of the Jewish Coeducational Middle School for Humanities in Płock, as well as the president of the Committee for Aid to Jews in Płock. In 1920, he was a board member of the Płock Children’s Aid Committee.

Ryfka Goldkind (born 1902) – daughter of Wolf Dawid and Estera Czosnek, a dentist (she received her diploma in Warsaw in 1925). Her office was located at 3 Kolegialna Street. Ryfka’s husband was Abram Mordka (Adam) Goldkind (born 1896), son of Icek and Tema née Drzewina, who was a dental technician by profession. Their daughter’s name was Hania.

Ryfka, her husband Abram and Hania were all murdered by the German occupier.

The synagogues of Płock – first episode of the series “Płock within your reach”

A few days ago, the first episode of the series “Płock within your reach”, produced by the Nobiscum Foundation thanks to the funding from the Grant Fund for Płock, had its premiere. Gabriela Nowak-Dąbrowska discusses the history of the synagogues of Płock, of which one survived in the city space, but from the film you will also learn about other interesting facts: do you know that in 1872 there were as many as 45 private prayer houses in Płock?
