Regina Ryfka Szenwic was born on August 18, 1886 in the family of Manchajm and Tauba Itta (Teofila) née Bornsztejn, in a house at 1 Szeroka Street (now Józefa Kwiatka 1). She was a long-term assistant at the Warsaw medical and dental school and a trainee at the Berlin university clinic. In Płock, she ran a dentist’s office at Floriański Square, in the Włoczewski tenement house (currently 1 Obrońców Warszawy Square). On September 28, 1917, she married Wincenty Wolman, who came from Włocławek.
Wincenty Wolman, son of Szymon and Salomea née Toruńska, was an electrical engineer by profession and a partner in the limited liability company “Biuro Techniczne “Elektron”, which began its activity on January 1, 1922. The company ran a storage and sale of electrotechnical goods and commission sale of construction products. Its seat was located in Włocławek at 17 Tadeusza Kościuszki Street. Wincenty Wolman was also a member of the Audit Committee of the Trade and Business Bank in Włocławek. He was actively involved in politics. In 1930 he was a member of the Jewish Nonpartisan Electoral Committee.
Wincenty Wolman came from a family of well-known entrepreneurs from Włocławek. His uncle Jakub Wolman was the owner of a company operating since 1889 under the name “Jakób Wolman” with its registered office in Ciechocinek at 8 Traugutta Street. The company ran a seasonal pharmacy store and rented rooms furnished in the “Hygiea” manor house, owned by Jakub Wolman. Jakub Wolman’s pharmacy store recommended in particular pharmacy materials, domestic and foreign ready-made medicines, dressings, perfumes and soaps, natural mineral waters and a unique bath extract awarded with a gold medal “Ozopumilin” – a concentrated dry extract from pine needles. In Włocławek, at 3 Maja Street 34, there was an optician’s shop owned by Jakub and his son Henryk.
Henryk Wolman was married to Estera aka Stella née Anker, daughter of Hersz (Herman) and Chawa (Ewa), born in 1902 in Włocławek. Herman Anker was the owner of the company “Skład Żelaza Hermana Ankera”, which was launched in Włocławek in 1895. It was located at 6 Old Market Square. After Herman’s death in 1933, the company was taken over by his heirs and managed by Irma Anker née Chazanowicz and Henryk Wolman. The share capital amounted to approximately 200 000 złotys. The company dealt with wholesale and retail trade in iron products.
Jakub Wolman’s second son, Ignacy, was a chemical engineer. After the war, he changed his name to Ignacy Wolman-Kulesza. He was a director at the Serums and Vaccines Production Union Plant “Biomed” based in Warsaw.
Regina Ryfka Wolman née Szenwic continued to work professionally as a dentist after her marriage. Her office was located in Włocławek at Tadeusza Kościuszki Street, number 19.
Regina Ryfka’s younger sister, Sara aka Stefania Szenwic (born in 1896), also lived in Włocławek. Sara aka Stefania Szymańska née Szenwic died in the Warsaw Ghetto in October 1942.
