In the interwar period, there was a Preschool for Children of Jewish Workers at the Union of Jewish Schools in Płock, chaired by Izrael Gerszon Bursztyn (1892-1950). The association called “The Union of Jewish Schools” was established in 1924 with the aim of “supporting and expanding Jewish people’s education and spreading education among the Jewish masses”.

The seat of the preschool was located at 14 Szeroka Street. Children of the poorest residents of Płock, aged 4 to 7, attended the preschool. Children stayed there every day from 9.00 a.m. to 2 p.m., due to poor housing conditions and lack of care at home, they stayed here all year round, except for Jewish holidays.

During the summer months, camps were organized: every day from 9.00-14.00 children spent time in the park on the hills, where they enjoyed sun and clean, healthy air, which they lacked in cramped and damp family homes. Every day the children received a breakfast consisting of milk and rolls. Two tutors were constantly staying at the preschool, whose task was, among others, teaching songs, poems and dancing. The preschool derived income from membership fees, school fees from children, proceeds from charity events and street collections, and a subsidy from the Union of Jewish Schools. President Zyskind was the head of the board of the Preschool for Children of Jewish Workers, its manager was S. Mocna.
